Dear Patron of the Arts:
The Nauvoo Orchestra is currently rehearsing for the 1st concert of its 13th season. The Orchestra was organized in 2010. Laurie Peterson has studied violin for more than fourty years and shares her musical talents by instructing violin students. Rick Marshall, the present Nauvoo Orchestra Conductor, holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Music from Brigham Young University and has directed various community groups including: Elementary School Band Director; Easter Cantata, West Valley City, Utah (orchestra and choral) 1991; Easter Cantata, West Valley City, Utah (orchestra and choral) 1992; Produced and Directed Single Adult Choir for Senator Gordon Smith (Beaverton, Oregon) July 4th Celebration; Produced and Directed Nauvoo City Smithsonian Institute "Journey Stories" Concert, Sep 2012; and Choir Conductor for Nauvoo City First Annual Messiah Performance (Dec 2013). Mr. Marshall has been a committed member of our orchestra and a member of our board since 2010. Under Marshall’s conductorship, our plans for the 2021-2022 season are to continue our goal of holding three concerts per season.
The purpose of the Orchestra is to provide students (especially string players) with a training ground in ensemble performance and to provide an opportunity for interested adult performers to have an outlet for their musical talents.
The Nauvoo Orchestra is asking for your support to assist with our operating expenses so we can continue to provide a quality musical experience for our members and our audiences. Members of the Nauvoo Orchestra include children as young as ten years of age through senior citizens who are student, amateur, or semi-professional performers.
